Vintage Bikes 2008 Wall Calendar
Premiering August 21st
“Twelve bikes, twelve months… get it?” was the offhand comment that started the wheels turning and culminated in the 2008 Vintage Bikes Calendar produced by the Tatlock Gallery.
Vintage Bikes 2008 Wall Calendar. A Culinary Motorcycle Tour of the Southcoast area.
While enjoying a glass of wine at Adega, the south end’s Portuguese eatery, David Tatlock was engaged in conversation about the then current vintage motorcycle show at the Tatlock Gallery with another patron. It was during this conversation that the comment was made referencing the coincidence of twelve bikes with twelve months.
The original idea grew to encompass some of the Southcoast’s restaurants, a bed & breakfast, the Fast Ferry and historic Fort Taber.

Soon it became evident that this was a way to showcase some of the finest New Bedford has to offer in a unique way.
Each month has as its’ anchor a fabulous vintage motorcycle, a restaurant or other interesting landmark, and one or more models gleaned from the staff of each establishment.
The sleek and beautiful lines of the silver 1968 Velocette Thruxton are shown to great advantage parked in front of the equally sleek “Fast Ferry”, which makes the trip to the Vineyard in one comfortable hour from the port of New Bedford.

Certainly one of the highlights of the calendar is the page for the month of July, featuring New Bedford’s own Police Chief, Ron Teachman and Pamela Souza. The couple are shown in clothes reminiscent of the late 1940’s, picnicking at Fort Taber. Parked next to them is the icon bike of this year’s Vintage Motorcycle Show at the Tatlock Gallery: an original 1946 Indian “Chief” complete with bullet-nosed side car. Storm clouds skid across the sky behind them, a windswept pine fills the frame and Butler Flats lighthouse twinkles in the distance. The scene is pure Americana.

The calendar will be previewed at a party for all the contributors held at Adega Restaurant August 21st and will be on sale to the public the following day.
The 2007 Vintage Motorcycle Show features an all new roster of interesting, obscure and classic motorcycles and will be held at the Tatlock Gallery, opening Saturday, Oct 6th and running to the closing party held on Halloween night, Oct 31st.
